Your wedding reception has to be perfect. Everything from the entertainment and the food to the flowers must be planned carefully. If your reception includes a sit down dinner, or buffet, you will have to make more decisions than just what is on the menu. The place settings, linens, and centerpieces, must set the tone you want to project. If your plan includes candelabra centerpieces, for example, you have to think about the table configuration, the venue, unique elements, and your theme.

You have a distinct style, and the theme of your reception should reflect that. The theme brings the entire room together. A theme can be almost anything. You can carry over your wedding colors or create a holiday theme. Your candelabras need to complement the overall theme. Centerpieces chosen for a rustic reception will not be the same one would choose for a Victorian or formal reception.

You must take your venue into consideration. A lot of venues prohibit clients from using anything that involves flames or breakable glass. If this is the case where you plan on holding your reception, you need to know in plenty of time to make alternative arrangements. The last thing you want is to be decorating the night before your wedding just to find out the candelabras you are planning to use don't conform to the venue's regulations.

If you are planning on having a head table, with guests seated at smaller tables positioned around the room, you will need several sizes of candelabras. You might have several prominent candelabras arranged along the head table, pulled together with garland. The guest tables may have smaller centerpiece versions of the head table.

You'll probably want to incorporate flowers into the centerpiece in some way. If this is the case, you need to decide whether you prefer fresh or silk. Fresh flowers are the preference of most, but they can be extremely expensive, especially if you are decorating multiple tables. They are also fragile and won't last forever.

Thinking outside the box is not a bad thing, and if you are open to ideas, foregoing the floral aspect totally might be interesting. Instead of flowers you might consider something like fresh vegetables or fruit to make colorful and unusual arrangements that will last through the evening and be something your guests won't be expecting.

If you do something really imaginative and unexpected, your guests will notice and remember. When you have your heart set on flowers as part of your table design, consider adding some unusual and decorative elements. Branches, stones, seashells, or feathers are good examples of added touches that will impress your guests. Don't think all the candelabras must match exactly. As long as they have something in common with one another, a distinctive look at each table can be very effective.

Your wedding reception look should be as unique as you are. Spending a fortune on flowers and elaborate centerpiece design isn't necessary. If you keep an open mind and let your designer use her imagination, your guests will be pleasantly surprised and impressed.
