Some of the most creative productions in the world comes in the form of anime movies. These movies, originating mostly from Japan, are quite different from the favorite superman comic book characters or children entertainment the rest of the world is accustomed to. When staging an anime review show, it is important to understand the historical and cultural perspective, and what makes them such a hit in Japan and the entire world.

Ask any animes fan why they love them and the answer given will be because they are different. The very structure of the movies is different from mainstream animations and even live action movies. Most have teenagers and teenage characters, yet the themes in such a movie are complex.

Most of the people watching often say the movies are animated but appear real. But the difference goes far deeper than the fundamental nature of those movies. Many animated movies are not as cliche as the Hollywood animation or live action movies are. In Hollywood, there is an obsession with happy endings, the boy getting the girl, and riding happily into the sunset to live cheerfully ever after. This is not always the case in Japanese animated movies.

Real life does not always happen as planned, and this makes it easier for people to identify with Japanese movies because of the feeling that they are more realistic. Animes are not just restricted to local fans and a few international fanatics. Not many people realized it, but while everyone was not looking, Japanese popular culture grew to become one of the biggest alternatives to popular American movie culture.

It has slowly grown to be a major rival to the mainstream Hollywood movie culture. In fact, related industries like toys and games are also riding in animes success to access a worldwide market. The reason why Japan has chosen the different path of anime as opposed to mainstream live action movies and animations is simple- it is all about the money.

Animated movie is easy and cheaper to produce, which makes it more economically viable. The success of animes is also partially related to the tradition of the Manga. The creative art used in these comic books is almost always the inspiration behind most animated films. People in Japan are involved in the Manga culture in ways unlike how American adults regard their comic books. It was only natural that the popular Manga culture led to animes.

Since the Manga are the inspiration for many animated movie productions, it is only right that animes were the next step. Anime directors enjoy the fact that in movie production, there is a lot of freedom. There is no pressure of the representation and images of race and gender. One does not have to conform to the normal imagery of, say, blacks, Caucasians, or Asians. In the amazing world of animes, there is freedom to go any direction.

There are no Caucasians, Hispanics, blacks or Asians, only characters as the designer and director desire. This freedom shifts the focus of audiences from the character and their representations, towards the issues and problems they tackle. In fact, there is an increase in the use of female protagonists in many recent Japanese animated movies. People enjoy unique and different movies.
