People are often encouraged to read. It is believed by many that a thirst for learning is effectively quenched by getting into the reading habit, which is absolutely right. It also makes one more aware of the world, as every book has the immense power top bring you to places even without having to board a plane or any mode of transportation.

Of course, people have very different reading preferences, according to their varying tastes. There are those who only read factual write ups and believe that fictional stuff are not worth reading. There are also some who get bored easily with the highly intellectual articles and would rather get lost in a good romance or mystery novel. There are people who would rather see the scenes rather than imagine them in their head, so they read comic books. Those who love it so much even attend comic art classes Pennsylvania.

These comic books, known by the Japanese as manga, are often used as a way to express ideas not only in words, but in pictures. These pictures are often arranged in such a way that they are able to tell really good stories. While most of them are made purely for entertainment reasons, there are also others that make one think about important issues that need to be addressed.

A cartoonist is the one who single handedly creates these series of drawings. He also goes by the term comic artist, too. Most of these are done by one individual alone, but there are also works that are products of collaborations between artists. Some series even entail the abilities of many people. In this set up, a penciller sketches the entire story board. The inker puts in all the details to make every strip more lively. A color artist colors each artwork, and the letterer is the one responsible for all the texts found in the pages.

Even with the spectacular rise to fame by the said genre, not all children are encouraged by their parents to make a living out of drawing cartoons. They believe that this will not bring about financial security. While being a cartoonist has its low points, there are many things that make it worthwhile.

Despite all of these protests, cartoonists who chose to follow their calling can openly say that there are many good things about being in the said field. For starters, you do not have to have a degree from the university. Formal schooling is not really a requirement. You only have to have a flair for art, something that one learns on his own or by joining art classes.

It also spares you from the pressures of employment. Being an artist allows you to have time on your hands, which means you can do what you like whenever you want to. You can even choose to work at home, or have freelance projects.

Merchandising opportunities also open up especially when your work becomes quite a hit. Aside from being in comic books, your works can also be featured in newspapers, over on the internet, even on other stuff such as shirts, mugs, and tumblers. Aside from earning from your publisher, you also get to receive a share from the sales of other merchandise.

It also allows you to meet up with other artists. You can improve your skills when you open up to them. This allows you to widen your social circle without feeling out of place.
